Dr. Jeffrey Taylor teaches about the art business at Western State Colorado University where he is the Grosland Director of the Master in Gallery Management & Exhibits Specialization. Dr. Taylor is also the author of Visual Arts Management published by Routledge, which is the first comprehensive textbook to the art business. He continues to remain active in the art world as an appraiser and is a partner in New York Art Forensics, an art forensics laboratory in Brooklyn, NY. He has made frequent press appearances, commenting on the problems of the art market, these include: Wall Street Journal, 60 Minutes, New York Times, CNBC, Village Voice, The New Republic, CBC Radio, The Art Newspaper, and Artsy. In this workshop "Making Your Career in the Art World," Dr. Taylor will lay out the structure of the art world, art business and art market. Jeffrey will explain all the different professional activities that go on in the art business, and how one can find their own role in the system. He will then go over some various business models that work for artists and gallerists. He will conclude with some group activities that help all participants strategize about career directions.
